As we enter Thanksgiving Week, Julia and I can't help but be Thankful to everyone who spent time with us this season at Mecca Camp Resort! Whether you visited for a weekend to ride the Tail of the Dragon, stayed for the summer or passed through as part of a cross-country journey, you have touched our lives and we Thank You for staying with us. Over the past season, we have gained life-long friends and we hope each of you have enjoyed your stay. Now that winter is setting in and the holiday season is around the corner, we wanted to share some highlights from our first full season at Mecca Camp Resort.
Memorial Day Weekend
There is no better way to start a camping season than to have a fully-loaded RV park packed with future memories! Our first fully-operational Memorial Day weekend started things off right and brought us new seasonal campers, bookings for next year and friends that have become family. During Memorial Day Weekend, we hosted our first Pancake Saturday and got to know everyone in the park. We also hosted family games and a campground BBQ for everyone to enjoy.
What are Pancake Saturdays, you might ask? Well... on busy weekends, we serve pancakes and coffee to everyone in the park for FREE. We also have Bacon and Sausage that can be purchased for $1. It's so awesome to cook up some pancakes and enjoy some coffee with our guests on a busy morning at the campground.
July 4th Celebration
The Fourth of July Weekend was our biggest party of the year! We were so excited to welcome Mudbone and his band to Mecca Camp Resort. We also hosted the only fireworks display in Tellico Plains. After minor delays due to some rain passing through, the party got started and we had a great time! We had a full campground, live music, fireworks, food trucks and tons of people flowing around the grounds. We can't wait for next year's July 4th Bash! We promise it will bigger and even better next year!
In addition to all the festivities, the pool was hopping all weekend and we again hosted Pancake Saturdays, along with FREE Sno Cones by the Pool! Sno Cones by the pool became an every Saturday thing! It was awesome!
Labor Day Extravaganza
The Mecca Camp Resort Labor Day Extravaganza was epic and was something everyone needs to try to participate in next season. From the constant stream of activities, to our Bingo and Cornhole Tournaments, we rolled out the red carpet. We also topped the weekend off with a showing of Top Gun Maverick on the 25 foot Outdoor Movie Screen. There was no better way to close out the last big holiday of the summer.
Live Music on the Patio
We also had a big surprise swing through town just as the weather was changing! One of our favorite musicians, Mudbone, joined us for a session on the patio by the fire pits. Thanks to the Cherohala Skyway Festival, we had a full campground and lots of excitement going on. In the end, more than 50 people came out and enjoyed the music and free popcorn all evening long! We danced and sang the night away!
Headed To Warmer Weather!
This season we were extremely honored to host Dave and Lisa Bok as our first Work Campers/Camp Hosts at Mecca Camp Resort. After 7 months of working for us, the time came for them to head toward warmer weather and another campground in Arizona. We were blessed to have them stay with us! Their experience managing campgrounds and their friendship really made the season a special one. We wish them all the love and happiness possible, and we are praying they will come back again next season. Dave and Lisa came to Mecca Camp Resort as Work Campers and left as FAMILY.!
We can't forget about Ron and Pam Price, who after initially planning to stay at Mecca Camp Resort for 2 weeks, kept the campground entertained for more than 6 months! We wish Seltzer Boy and Pam a safe and happy retirement journey as full timers. We can't wait to have them come back through in April and stay with us again! Best of luck in your travels across this great country of ours!
Closing
What a remarkable season it has been and we can't thank you enough for being apart of it. As the winter presses on, please remember that we are OPEN YEAR ROUND, so continue to check in with us as we will be making some big announcements very soon!
