Are you looking for your next getaway with the girls? Have you ever heard of Tellico Plains, Tennessee? Let's start by talking about Tellico Plains. There is a reason we chose this location to live out our dream.
Tellico Plains is a unique small town at the foothills of the Cherokee National Forest, just south of the Great Smoky Mountains. It has some of the nicest people and the best-kept secrets in the State of Tennessee. You will have no problem keeping yourself busy while on vacation. So, if I was planning a girl's trip with my best friends, I would suggest the following things to do.
Start by booking one or all of the Glamping Tents at Mecca Camp Resort! Depending on how many women are in your tribe, we can host groups from 2-9 in our Glamping Tents.
Tellico Plains is the little town with the big back yard!
Below are my Top 6 things to do on a girls trip:
1. Bald River Falls
This place is simply amazing! You can take a hike up the trail, go swimming down below or stand on the bridge and enjoy the view. Just up the road, there is a place to turn around, go to the bathroom and sit and enjoy the Baby Falls.
Also, think about hiring a local photographer to capture your trip. (I know a good one!)

2. Indian Boundary
The lake at Indian Boundary National Park is amazingly peaceful. You can enjoy the beach area and take a swim or you can get the kayaks out and explore the water. If you'd rather hike, there is a network of trails that surround the lake ranging in difficulty and scenery. If you'd rather just chill on the water, bring a raft and float your problems away.
3. Cherohala Skyway
The Charohala Skyway is a 43-miles National Scenic Byway that runs between Tellico Plains and Robbinsville, North Carolina. It has many twists and turns through the Cherokee National Forest. There are tons of hiking trails and scenic overlooks around every corner.
If you love to ride a motorcycle, it's an access point to the infamous Tail of the Dragon, an 11 mile stretch of mountain highway with 318 curves. It is bordered by the Great Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest with no intersecting roads or driveways to hamper your travel. It is considered “the destination” for thousands of motorcycle and sports car fans throughout the spring, summer, and fall.

3. Tellico River
Who does not like getting swept away by clear, cool, mountain water? New to Tellico Plains is tubing on the Tellico River. We just did it last weekend and it was a blast! You can make it an all-day event or just one hour of your afternoon.
The Tellico River is also home to some of the best trout fishing in the country. Local fishing outfitters can point you to the good spots on the river.
4. Ironworks Grille
If watching the river is more your style, the best place in town to unwind is at Ironworks Grille. They have fire pits, picnic tables, and Cornhole along the river. They also have an awesome menu and a full bar. I do recommend getting the 'wickles' as they will not disappoint!
5. Tsali Notch Vineyard
Enjoy a tasting of award-winning muscadine wine or pick up a bottle to enjoy by the campfire. The views are wonderful and the wine is delicious. It is a perfect place to sit and enjoy the company of your friends. If you don't drink wine, no problem, they have a great selection of juices as well.

6. Buck Bald Mountain
Grab a chair and blanket and head up to this little slice of heaven and watch the sunrise or sunset. It is the most beautiful view of the Southern Appalachian Mountains you can get. You will have 365 degrees of unrestricted views of the National Forest in Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia.
